get it?’ There were a lot of elements
up in the air that needed to work. I
learned through all of the anxiety
and stress just to keep going. Kenny
likes to try a lot of different things.
We needed to get to version 30 to
know that the second version was
the best one. I loved doing that even
though it’s a lot of work.”
Though she does not have a lot
of screen time as Randi, Lee Chan-
dler’s ex-wife, Michelle Williams
makes the most of the role. “The
phone call scene between Lee and
Randi gets me every time. I also love
when Randi shows up at the funeral
and when they run into each other
on the street. Those are three amaz-
ing scenes,” Lame tells us.
“I remember going to Sundance
with Kenny and being proud that we
finished it on time,” recalls Lame. “I
was so happy that we accomplished
what we were trying to do. I was so
floored by the reaction. It was fun to
see an audience laughing and cry-
ing. It’s like all I want from a mov-
ie.”
Lame has since reunited with a
frequent collaborator. “I’m finishing
up my fourth movie with director
Noah Baumbach. I feel so blessed
that I’ve gotten to work with writ-
er-directors. Noah and Kenny have
strong opinions but are open to
ideas because editing is like another
draft to them.”
